Where the rates come from and how to read them
FinanHelp's currency converter pulls live mid-market exchange rates and lets you see, at a glance, how much your money is worth in another currency today — and how that rate has shifted over the past month, quarter, or year. It's built for quick, everyday conversions: planning a trip, checking an invoice in a foreign currency, or comparing a price you found abroad against your own currency.
Whether you're budgeting for an upcoming holiday, settling a freelance invoice billed in another currency, or simply curious how far your savings would stretch abroad, this tool gives you a fast, no-signup answer without digging through a bank's app or calling a branch for a quote.
Simply enter an amount, pick a "from" and "to" currency, and hit Convert. FinanHelp's currency converter instantly shows the converted amount, the current rate and its inverse, a rate-trend chart you can switch between 30 days, 90 days and a full year, and a quick reference table against ten major world currencies.
The rate shown by FinanHelp's currency converter is the mid-market rate — the midpoint between what buyers and sellers are willing to pay, with no markup added. Banks and card networks almost always add a margin on top of this rate, so it's the fairest baseline for judging whether a quoted conversion is competitive.
Currency pairs can move a few percent in a matter of weeks. FinanHelp's trend chart lets you check whether the pair you care about is climbing, falling, or holding steady, which is useful before locking in a transfer, a purchase, or a travel budget.
Rates are sourced from the European Central Bank's euro foreign exchange reference rates, published on every working day at around 16:00 CET.
Because these are official reference rates rather than live trading feeds, the ECB itself notes they're meant for information purposes only and shouldn't be used directly for transactions — actual bank or card rates will always include their own margin on top.
FinanHelp's currency converter is well suited to everyday decisions: getting a quick sense of a price abroad, checking roughly how much a foreign invoice is worth, or seeing whether a pair has been trending up or down before you commit to a transfer. It supports more than 30 world currencies, from major ones like the US dollar, euro and Japanese yen to less common ones like the Philippine peso or the Romanian leu.
What it isn't designed for is executing an actual transaction: real transfers, card payments and bank purchases go through your provider's own systems, and those will almost always apply a small margin on top of the mid-market rate shown here.
If you're moving a large amount of money internationally, it's worth comparing the rate your bank or transfer provider quotes you against the reference rate here — the gap between the two is effectively the cost of the transfer, even when no separate fee is listed.
Rates are indicative mid-market values sourced from the European Central Bank via the Frankfurter API and update once per business day — actual bank or card rates will include a margin.
